About

Hello!

I’m Tyler Chattariyangkul, a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo concentrating in Sustainable Technology for the Built Environment, or HVAC&R. I am also a California Engineer-in-Training and expect to graduate in May 2027.

I became interested in HVAC&R because I enjoy engineering problems where many different pieces have to work together. I like the process of organizing systems in AutoCAD and Revit, working through thermal and fluid calculations, and figuring out how to make buildings use less energy while still keeping people comfortable.

Sustainability is also a major reason I chose this field. I want to work on improving existing buildings, reducing wasted energy, upgrading equipment and controls, and helping lower the environmental impact of the built environment.

My engineering experience has included construction inspection at Skanska, manufacturing and troubleshooting at PetDoors and Epson, undergraduate robotics research at Cal Poly, and design work through student organizations such as Electromotion, ASHRAE, and MCAA. I enjoy both designing something from scratch and troubleshooting an existing system until I understand what is actually causing the problem.

Outside of engineering, I enjoy playing volleyball, working out, playing board games, and spending time with friends.

I’m always interested in meeting other engineers and learning more about HVAC&R, building systems, and sustainable design. Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn!
